It's Super Goodman

At Wayfarer, we love our coffee. We've gone to every coffee shop in the area so you don't have to and we're here to share the best with you. When you're in Kyoto, you absolutely have to check out Goodman Roasters. Founded by Ito san, the roastery is located in the heart of the city and has branches in Taipei as well.

Ito san's runs the Kyoto shop with his wife and it's really cool hearing his story - you can watch our interview with him here. He's really passionate about his coffee and actually also posts videos where you can learn about his techniques in Japanese!

Goodman's signature is that they use a light roast bean from Taiwan called Alisan coffee. It has the consistency of tea but the deep flavors of coffee. Of course they also have the classic espresso you would expect from Lattes to Americanos. Their house blend is sick. But coffee isn't the only reason to visit Goodman. The food offerings here are also top-notch. Their espresso butter toast is a must-try; they also have some of the best banana bread and stuffed cookies we've ever had. If you're visiting in the summer, don't miss out on Goodman Roasters' famous espresso soft serve ice cream (careful, it melts fast).

Goodman Roasters was one of Wayfarer's first community partners in Kyoto so if you're staying at one of our hotels, you can pickup an exclusive 10% discount coupon for select drinks. Drop by and check them out! You might also see our team members drop in at all times of the day.

Btw: Goodman Roasters is usually closed on Thursdays.
